History

The Organization, formerly known as National Silhouettes came into existence because of a need. Many wives accompanied their husbands to the Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and found themselves alone and in need of activities to fill their time. Later, the Kappas asked their wives to act as hostesses and plan activities for visiting wives and children. Many such groups remained together and organized permanent groups, calling themselves “Kappa Wives” or Kappa Alpha Psi Silhouettes”.

Greetings! It is my distinct honor and privilege to serve as President of the Silhouettes' Los Angeles Alumni Chapter. The Silhouettes is an auxiliary organization of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Los Angeles Chapter. Our membership is comprised of wives and widows of the men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The Los Angeles chapter Silhouettes is part of a national network of chapters which is supported by provincial and national leadership.

The Silhouettes is a community service based organization providing: scholarships to college bound Seniors, food and clothing donations to shelters, and community service to well deserved civic and political projects at the local, Western Province and National levels. In addition, we support the Annual Black and White Ball and Kappa Presents fundraisers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

The National Silhouettes of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was established in 1947 as an auxiliary group and the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter Silhouettes is the largest chapter comprised of the most active members in the Far West Region.

I am also an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Tau Beta Omega, Marina Del Rey Chapter; Jack and Jill of America, Inglewood Chapter; and the Los Angeles African American Women’s Public Policy Institute.

I am an appointed Assembly Delegate for the 62nd District by the Honorable Assemblymember Autumn Burke and a Political Liaison for Southern California Region for the Association of California State Supervisors.
