The Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity has over 150,000 members with 721 undergraduate and alumni chapters in every state of the United States. There are also international chapters in the United Kingdom, Germany, Korea, Japan, United States Virgin Islands, Nigeria, and South Africa.
Kappa Alpha Psi sponsors programs that provide community service, social welfare, and academic scholarships through the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation. The fraternity is also known for its "cane stepping" in organized step shows.
Kappa Alpha Psi celebrated its 100th anniversary on January 5, 2011 and, as such, it is the oldest of the four predominantly African American collegiate Greek-letter fraternities.
